[ The day of their meeting arrives, discussed and agreed upon on the network; a simple walk, leading to possibly other (and less simple) activities, but even so--the idea was pleasant to Sayori, for a few reasons. High up there was getting to know a new person.
But it didn't hurt that their situations felt similar: two individuals trapped by their old lives, now figuring out the new.
(And the dying part, but--no need to commiserate on that, Sayori thinks.)
She's at the station, by one of its statues, told to Kokichi and with a picture of herself and it in view, so he knows who to look for; dressed in simple pink pastels, a cardigan and skirt. Waiting for his arrival, whether or not he's sent a picture in return! ]
[ Kokichi didn’t think to send a picture, but he’s still wearing his traditional styled black uniform with slip on shoes. He’s doing well, his gait is even and he’s clearly gotten a handle on things in the past few months. His hair is pulled back into a top knot, although it’s drooping because it’s actually getting a little long for that.
He’s on time, although he seems a bit impassive in his expressions, he raises a hand to shyly greet her. ]
Hey. [ He doesn’t always smile, he’s a bit on the serious side, but he sounds friendly at least. ]
[ It's okay, Sayori has enough smiles for them both, with it brightening upon her being approached. She'll come to meet him for the few steps it takes for them to come close. ]
Ehehe, mechamaru, right? I just realised as you were walking over--we never introduced ourselves!
[ She mimics tapping the side of her head in an 'oopsie!' motion. ]
Mecha~maru. [ She's repeating it, mainly because it sounds funny to call someone by their username... but nevertheless! ]
Ehe, it's nice meeting you too! You can call me Sayori. [ She puts her hands out. ] Did you get ideas from your post? I know it's really hard to think about things to do... it's good you put yourself out there!
Mmm... I get days like that too, [ she confesses shyly. ] Having obligations can help. But finding new obligations is harder than having to go to school every week.
[ Especially if you didn't have to go, for one reason or another. ]
I wanted to learn magic here, from the Baba school--until I found out it's in a swamp with monsters... [ She laces her fingers in front of herself, bumping her hands lightly against her skirt. ] Ehehe, but even that... it just sounded fun. Like something out of a story book than something actually serious, you know?
It would be a lot easier for people like us if they had taster days for new things we could try!
I've always been on my own, at least, at home I was just living in a room with no windows alone. So it's...what I'm used to. I'm getting better about it, but still, it's a little overwhelming.
[ That's not a secret, he had a full on panic attack on the network before. ]
I...could go to school, I guess, but I don't think it would be the same as going with my friends. My best friend is here, but I'm not sure she'd really be into that kind of thing. I don't actually know what she does all day. [ Aside from the time she spends with him. ]
If you need someone to keep you safe, you can ask me. I can send a robot with you. [ His mental combat skills are much better than his physical at the moment. ]
I can. It's like a robot puppet. It runs on my cursed energy and I can see through them and talk through them. It's my technique. They can take pretty much any form I want them to, as long as they're mechanical.
[ He hums. ] I have a huge mech I walk around in sometimes when I'm too tired to walk, it's got some weaponry, but it hasn't come up. My usual proxy Mechamaru usually has the most weaponry. I haven't fought anything since I came here.
I can also make smaller ones. Both to show off and for spying and sending messages, which is what I did with them.
[ She has to stop. Stop, and stare with her wide-eyed expression that starts to furrow above the brow. ]
Mechamaru... all this time, you've been talking about finding things to do or not having many hobbies...
...and you're a super cool action spy!!
[ MECHAMARU!!! Sayori is flabbergasted, but also impressed, the way she's looking at him with her hands clenched in tiny fists. Maybe she shouldn't be speaking so loudly about how he's a cool action spy, but can you blame her??? ]
I promise I'm not. I did...spying for bad reasons. Selfish reasons. Necessary, but I sold some people out I cared about. It's not something to be admired.
Outside of this, which is my job I guess, I don't have any hobbies.
[ She goes 'oooh' under her breath--surprised all the same, but not as dramatic as she had been. Still, this does sound like a super duper spy plot story if Sayori ever heard one...!!! ]
Hmmm, well... even if you did some bad things, it sounds like you can do good with it, too. [ But that's rather dismissive of whatever he did do, isn't it? ] Still! That's a really big job... but did it start out that way? Why did you start making them?
[ Ah- ] Because of your cursed...energy?
[ Someone here is not familiar with this concept. ]
[ She’s not wrong, and if it was bad...he had his reasons. He goes back and forth on guilt. ]
I did it because I was sick. Very sick. I was alive, but barely. My technique allowed me to contact the outside world and do some work with my skills while I could remain locked in my room.
[ Being stuck inside, but having the ability to go outside, even through a robot... ]
...still, that couldn't be easy. Especially if you were so sick--you did a lot for your situation! [ She looks at him as she says that, a small smile worn with the admiration. ] Even if it got messy, too... it sounds like a messy world that you come from. I never needed to walk around with protect. The most danger I got up to was...
[ She winces, then laughs, making a fake grimace that doesn't work when she's smiling through it. ]
...bumping into closed doors or spacing out when crossing the road!
It was never easy, no. It was unbearable. [ He puts his hands in his pockets, still walking with her at her pace. ] The sun would’ve burned my skin immediately. That’s why I didn’t have a window. The moon too. No one’s really that mad about what I did, but I don’t know how to feel about it.
[ If they had held him accountable maybe – but no, they’ve all let him off the hook. ]
Unfortunately for jujutsu sorcerers, messy is a nice way of putting it, but for most civilians, it’s fine. [ Kokichi smiles at her joke. ]
Yeah, I haven’t done that since I got here and got used to walking. [ A bit of light teasing. ]

Mechamaru works. It's uh, nice to meet you.

I had a lot of interesting conversations. I’m not sure if I got many ideas out of it though. [ He starts walking with her at a leisurely pace. ]
I usually have the urge to just stay inside and hide but...that’s probably not the best thing I could be doing.

Sorry about the wait, I wound up sick.
